After 558 days, Game Of Thrones has finally arrived. Now if you have forgotten to pay your cable bill, living under a rock, or your friends changed their HBO password here’s what you need to know:
Queen Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lady of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm, Lady of Dragonstone, Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons, (or Daenerys for short) has finally landed at Dragonstone, with her army of Dothraki and Unsullied soldiers. Jon Snow, King of the North, finally meets with Daenerys where she holds him hostage until he bends the knee. In reality, It’s a win-win situation- John can mine dragonglass to his heart’s content and gets some sweet bonding time with his aunt.
…Oh yeah, Dany is his aunt!
Meanwhile, the Stark children- Arya, Sansa, and Bran are finally back in Winterfell since the first season (rambunctious applause inserted here)! While all three have undergone some dramatic life changes, Bran has perhaps undergone the most important plot change of all- becoming the apathetic and rather phlegmatic greenseer known as the Three-Eyed Raven (insert dramatic irony here).
Jon and his band of Wildlings and Night’s Watchmen go beyond the Wall, where they try to capture a white walker to show Cersei and the other Westerosi leaders that the myths are real, and zombies (I mean white walkers) could destroy them all. Dany’s child Viserion died while fighting the white walkers, and became an undead dragon himself. Meanwhile, Dany and Jon get it on, with Tyrion lurking in the shadows. Jon still doesn’t know she’s his aunt so its a little less
In Winterfell, Arya and Sansa kill Little Finger (FINALLY!), while Sam Tarly finds out that Jon Show is actually Aegon Targaryen. And to end the season, the undead Viserion breaks through the Wall and the Army of the Undead marches toward Westeros.
Still not sure what else happened 558 days ago then read our other quibbls on season 7 here.
With this extended break from the show, super fans, like myself, were able to theorize who (if anyone), is going to sit upon the Iron Throne. The biggest reoccurring theory is that Jon is going to kill Daenerys. In the books, Dany supposedly has three big betrayals: once for blood (the death of her child in season 1), once for gold (this is up in the air due to the events of Dany’s life, but involves Jorah Mormont’s spying on the Mother of Dragons in exchange for his freedom to return to Westeros in seasons one and two), and lastly, once for love. Since she has already lost her first husband Khal Drogo (#relationshipgoals) Dany hasn’t had another love in her life until Jon Snow (…again incest much).
This last theory stems from the side of the fandom who believe that Jon is the prophesied hero, Azor Ahai. Azor Ahai famously forged a sword that could extinguish the darkness in the world, but in order to finish the sword, he had to plunge it into his wife’s chest. And if you’re picking up what I’m putting down, Jon is going to have to kill Dany to save humanity.
I personally prefer the theory that the Undead Viserion will kill Daenerys, because what is more intense? The Mother of Dragons dying by the hand of one of her dragons, or being murdered by her nephew/lover? Let’s hope that after the 558 days of waiting, these last six episodes live up to the hype because if they don’t, there might be a mutiny of people dressed as Jon Snow knocking down HBO’s door.
“When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die.”
Cersei and Jamie may be the OG familial couple, but with Jon and Dany’s new budding romance, will they become the series’ newest incestuous relationship?
Sansa and Tyrion will be reuniting and after years apart and an abusive marriage to Ramsay Bolton (most satisfying death in the series)… will this couple will get back together? Quibbl here
With the theories around Dany’s death, do you think that Daenerys will die? If so which theory will reign supreme, death by dragon or stab by

Will the Night King conquer the World of the Living and sit on the Iron Throne for the dead?
