The People of Alabama Will Vote on December 12th
Things have changed, to put it mildly, since Quibbl last asked who would win the upcoming special Senate election in Alabama. While that quibbl remains open and its bets remain binding, we’re giving users another shot at predicting the outcome of this important, still uncertain race. Just a few weeks out from the December 12th election, polls show a close contest between Republican Roy Moore, who has refused calls even from prominent Republicans to withdraw amidst sexual misconduct allegations, and Democrat Doug Jones. The outside possibility remains that another GOP candidate could win via Moore stepping aside and/or a write-in candidacy. Who wins in Alabama on December 12th?
On Sept. 26th, candidate for Jeff Sessions’ Senate seat won the Alabama GOP primary, beating incumbent Senator Luther Strange. His next hurdle is to beat the Democratic candidate Doug Jones. Will Roy Moore win the Senate seat?
Special Counsel Robert Mueller
Beginning a new phase of his Russia investigation, Special counsel Robert Mueller filed charges against former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, former campaign official Rick Gates and former campaign aide George Papadopoulos, who has pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his interactions with Russian government officials. Former national security adviser Mike Flynn had reportedly lied to government officials about meetings. Will Mike Flynn be indicted?
