The British Open, or simply known as “The Open,” will begin this Thursday (first tee is at 1:35 AM ET), as golf’s best compete for the oldest major title. The tournament, held at The Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, England, will feature top competitors such as Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Speith, 2017 Masters champion Sergio García and more.  Golf fans from all over are excited to see who will take home the trophy by the weekend’s end.  Here are your top five Quibbls for the tournament:


Who will win The Open?

The players with the best odds to win it all are Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Jason Day, Sergio García, Jon Rahm, Rickie Fowler, Henrik Stenson, Hideki Matsuyama.  Will one of these stars bring home the title, or will someone else take the glory?

Where will Jordan Spieth place in The Open?

American and fan favorite Jordan Spieth, who has the third best odds going into The Open, will fight for a victory.  The 2015 Masters winner most recently won the Travelers Championship, taking his 10th PGA Tour title a month shy of his 24th birthday.

Will Sergio García place in the top 5 of The Open?

García, the 2017 Masters champion, currently has the 5th best odds to win The Open. On the weekend following the British Open, Garcia will be marrying Golf Channel reporter Angela Akins? Will top 5 at The Open be one of his wedding gifts?

Where will Phil Mickelson place in The Open?

American great Phil Mickelson currently has the 15th best odds to win the tournament. He won The Open in 2013 and placed 2nd in 2011 and 2016. Where will the 47-year-old lefty place in his 24th Open appearance? If he is to win it all, he would be the Open’s oldest champion Old Tom Morris in 1867.

What will the winner of this year’s Open shoot?

Last year’s The Open winner, Swede Henrik Stenson shot a -20.  The year before, three golfers tied at -15 and headed to a playoff, which was eventually won by American Zach Johnson.  What will be the winning score this time around?
